For many years I was a customer service manager creating training programs and teaching technical information to a large group of individuals. So it was natural for me to gravitate toward teaching others how to sew. My interest in sewing began several years ago when I was visiting my aunt who taught me how to sew. I look back with pride and fond memories of the projects we did together. Our experiences have taken me in many directions that have developed my sewing skills in several areas. (Yes, that’s me you see in thesewingmovie on this site.) I have many sewing interests, but my passion is garment sewing. It seems as though no project is the same and there is always something new to learn.
Since my initial sewing endeavors, I have taken many classes in both garment and quilting construction to develop knowledge in these areas. This has led me to a teaching career in sewing. I am currently an instructor at a local college where I teach basic levels of sewing to students. I’ve also taught garment related projects at four of our local area quilt shops. And as a member of the American Sewing Guild and Smocking Arts Guild of America I’ve done demonstrations in sewing and heirloom techniques.
